The dispute hangs on whether the stagehands – mostly prop-makers, carpenters and electricians – should have a role in a new educational wing that the Carnegie Hall Corp plans to open above the hall next year. The corporation wants to hire cheaper labor at the education wing. Negotiations with the union took an unprecedented turn on Wednesday when Local 1 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees decided to go on strike for the first time in the history of Carnegie Hall. However, when James Claffey, president of Local 1, emerged from negotiations on Thursday afternoon, he announced the union had agreed to pull down the picket line for the day, citing progress in the talks. “This is a goodwill gesture towards Carnegie Hall,” said Claffey, whose local has negotiated some of the most lucrative pay in the industry. He later said further progress had been made, and that even though picketing would continue, he hoped to reach a deal by Friday. Carnegie Hall’s five full-time stagehands make an average of $400,000 per year including benefits, The New York Times reported, citing the organization’s tax returns. Claffey said there were many more stagehands represented by the union who work only sporadically. “This dispute is not about those employees,” Claffey said. “This is about everyone else. These are middle class employees.” The strike forced Carnegie Hall to cancel a performance by the Philadelphia Orchestra with violinist Joshua Bell. The concert was part of Carnegie Hall’s opening-night gala, the organization’s biggest fundraising event of the year.

The former Jackass star and would-be rocker wed his girlfriend Nicole Boyd on stage in Reykjavik, Iceland with his band and an enthusiastic audience as witnesses. The 34-year-old rocker even posted a video on YouTube so all could enjoy Saturday’s nuptials that took place during Random Hero Festival, a charity concert intended to raise funds for a skate park. Scroll down to view video… Kiss the bride: Bam Margera wed girlfriend Nicole Boyd during a rock ‘n roll concert for charity in Reykjavik, Iceland on Saturday ‘First look into the wedding last night in #reykjavik #iceland,’ Bam wrote as an introduction to the video. The cameraman was obviously a bit shaky but fortunately Bam can be detected on stage facing Nicole in a grey hoodie, tattered dark wrap and shades while another guy in black hat and garb appears to officiate. The next moment Bam is going in for the kiss, which lasts several seconds while the audience roars in unison. Entertaining groom: The former Jackass star wore a hoodie and dark shades during the raucous ceremony and then took the mic to sing with his band So touching: The brief ceremony was captured on video which Bam posted on YouTube for all to share Jackass’ Bam Margera marries Nicole Boyd at concert in Iceland Watch full video on Bam Margera’s YouTube page Bride wore white: Nicole went the more traditional route in a long, lacy white gown with low-cut back The bride herself is dressed more traditional in a long, lacy white gown with low-cut back, her dark hair coiled into an elegant chignon at the nape of her neck. Once the vows were exchanged, Bam is shown taking the microphone and throwing himself into a tune with his band, F—face Unstoppable. The heart-thumping music begins and the bride seems to edge into the sidelines so Bam can do his thing. What’s in a kiss: The bride and groom’s first kiss as a married couple seemed to last longer than the ceremony Gracious: Bam even lifted up his trademark shades so he wouldn’t bruise Nicole’s nose while they smooched How’s that for an introduction: The newlywed Bam entertained the crowd with vigor Now that’s a show: Bam’s concert featured a friendly crowd surfer At one point a thrill-seeker is seen hurling himself into the audience for a crowd surfing adventure. In 2007, Margera married to a friend from his childhood, Melissa Rothstein, but three years later he said on Howard Stern’s radio show that they were separated and in 2012 they divorced. Before that, he was engaged to Jenn Rivell but they ended their relationship tumultuously in 2006.

Because hes on Instagram, the photo-sharing social-media service that has among other things helped turn every concertgoer into a concert photographer, including Zaghal. This is what happens when someone who cant see a thing decides to shoot concert pics, hes written on his profile page . Captions only indicate what I think Im shooting. Last time Zaghal was here at the Rocketship a group house in 16th Street Heights where underground rock bands make urgent noise on a cold basement floor he thought he was shooting local punk quartet Priests. Instead, Zaghal went home with some blurry snaps of the pipes and paneling. I thought there was some kind of stage here, he says. But my friends are pretty honest. The least successful images become the most successful. Which is beautiful. And hilarious. Its a totally funny idea, Zaghal, 31, says.
